April 2002

Each month, Panorama magazine brings you the best from the world of Porsche. Races, vintage car shows, technical articles, we cover it all!

At Panorama, we never have room for all the pictures we'd like to share with our readers. Here are some photos that just wouldn't fit into the magazine this month.

In April Panorama goes to Road Atlanta where senior editor Joe Rusz
and race driver David Murry drive three Turbos: the Tiptronic S, a six-speed and the GT-2 supercar. Leonard Turner was the photographer on duty and for this month's Gallery we present a behind-the-scenes look at the shoot.

We refer you to the magazine for even more articles. How do you get your copy? Join PCA, Porsche Panorama is a prime benefit of membership!

PCNA graciously shared the track and provided the cars during a day at the Porsche Driving Experience.

The mission was to compare average
driver versus pro, Tiptronic versus stick.

PCNA's Bob Carlson and Joe Rusz (both with backs to camera), along with Panorama editor Betty Jo Turner, chat on the pit apron.

The question: Is an average driver faster with the Tiptronic or six-speed Turbo? How about a pro driver?

The GT-2 provides a reality check for the two 911 Turbos.

The lapis blue 911 Turbo is the six-speed; its speed yellow twin is fitted with the Tiptronic S.

Rusz and David Murry debrief after hot laps
in each Turbo.

Joe Rusz takes a close look at the Porsche Ceramic Composite Brake system on the 911 GT-2.

Rusz puts the Tiptronic S through a 600-foot slalom, standard protocol for evaluating how a car transitions at high speed.

He's not trying to escape-

Rusz is getting instructions on where to position the GT-2 next for photographer Leonard Turner high above.

See the April issue for the full report on the Turbo shootout, along with first photos of the Cayenne, an analysis of 996 standard and sport suspensions and a report from Bob Gutjahr on the Porsche experience in Kuwait.
