February 2002

Each month, Panorama magazine brings you the best from the world of Porsche. Races, vintage car shows, technical articles, we cover it all!

At Panorama, we never have room for all the pictures we'd like to share with our readers. Here are some photos that just wouldn't fit into the magazine this month.

In our February issue we bring you a retrospective on the Porsche 924. The images collected for this Gallery were all taken by Leonard Turner at European press introductions, Porsche Parades and photo shoots over the years.

We refer you to the magazine for even more articles. How do you get your copy? Join PCA, Porsche Panorama is a prime benefit of membership!

In 1987 Porsche mated the 924 body
shell to a full set of 944 mechanicals, creating the 924S, the last and best
of the breed.

The 924 Carrera GT is rare, only 406 having been produced. It transformed the sleek shape of the 924, paving the way for its 944 successor.

Aggressive-looking NACA duct in the hood of the 924 Turbo helped reduce engine compartment temperatures.

924 Carreras were regular participants at Sebring in the early 1980s.

Several two-color paint schemes were devised for the 924. This one is Colorado beige over mocha brown.

924 Turbos on display during the model's
introduction at Öhringen, Germany. These two represent another approach to two colors for
the sleek front-engined Porsche.

924 prototype, built in June 1973.

Lagaay is now chief designer at Porsche.

Porsche introduced the 924 Turbo in the late
fall of 1978. The extra front air intakes are
an immediate giveaway to the 170hp
engine lurking inside.

The strongest feature of the original
924 is its elegant, aerodynamically
efficient shape. Rear treatment is
cleanly integrated, without ornament.

See the February issue for some diverse Porsche reading including Bill Oursler's 924 story, a piece from Alan Kendall on a well traveled 914/6 GT, a Club Racing Roundup and an up-close look at the Tech Committee guys who help you when you're frustrated with your car.
